Artisan crafted featuring natural matte (not polished) golden brown Tiger-eye gemstones and solid bronze pieces cast from antiques using the lost wax method. This Penal crucifix, c. 1700s, originated in Ireland for those making the pilgrimage to Lough Derg. The St. Francis medal commemorates one of the Catholic churches greatest saints. In his youth, Francis was captured and imprisoned for ransom. He spent nearly a year in prison — awaiting his father's payment — and, according to legend, began receiving visions from God. After his release from prison, Francis heard the voice of Christ, who told him to repair the Christian Church. He also developed a deep love of nature and animals and is known as the patron saint of the environment and animals. A wonderful gift for First Communion, Confirmation, Father’s Day, anyone with a devotion to nature and animals and for priests!
